2023 Civic Type R Baseline | Mustang Dyno & DynaPack | Top Speed

Hi All,

This post is a little late but just wanted to create a thread that shares the baselines from my Civic Type R. After purchasing the Type R I took it to my dyno (Mustang Dyno MD500) to see how much WHP/TRQ it made. From there, took a trip to our friends at Church Automotive to see what it does on their DynaPack. Results and video below.

Remember a dyno is a tool and if you're going to compare figures, make sure you understand the different variables. Octane, Conditions/Locations and Dyno being used all make a difference in power figures. If you want to see if your Civic Type R mods are making a HP & TRQ difference on your build, I recommend try going back to the same dyno. For best results let the track times and your driving experience prove to you the differences, from there you'll know where to improve.





Mustang Dyno Results: 270 WHP & 312 TRQ

DynaPack Results: 321 HP & 350 TRQ

How many miles did u have on your fl5 before you decided to base line it?

The main takeaway from all the dyno runs on both the FL5 and FK8 seems to be that there are less drivetrain losses than usual - or else Honda is understating the power figures at the crank.
Either or both explanations are a positive.

When I bought the Type R and took it to my dyno (Mustang Dyno) it had 12 miles. Then Took the trip to the DynaPack and it had little over 100 miles.
