Looks like the recipe for good power is

PRL intake
PRL inlet
PRL intercooler
TSP downpipe

Things like front pipe, catback, intercooler piping, etc… seemed like they made 1-4hp

Guess tsp downpipe it is after all 😂🤣

Where'd you get those numbers from? I think I see imwtuned in there, but that's an awful lotta mods for 400whp, I've definitely seen people eek out more with less (especially drob)

seems about right. the dynapack is probably the more consistent dyno i've seen between cars

Tune is the biggest HP adder on this platform, unless you swap the turbo and fuel, everything else is minimal

DROBIMW instagram page… has tons of dyno runs.

Very helpful to me. Comparing graphs also and seeing the curves almost unchanged with a lot of big money mods.

At that point just go catless and wear nose plugs 🤣

I think the hierarchy is basically
  1. Tune gets you to 360-370hp (just talking in terms drobs dyno here since he shares a ton of data with us on IG)
  2. Intake/Downpipe seems to be worth maybe 10hp, there are a lot of cars getting to ~380hp with these two mods, a little bit less if they're missing one.
  3. Intercooler I don't think it necessarily increases the maximum power, but will absolutely maintain power way longer than the stock intercooler. Tube and fin intercoolers (HKS, RV6, etc.) are lighter and may be better for cars making more horsepower with upgraded turbos and pushing them for extended durations like on a track. Bar and plate ICs (PRL) are heavy but do a good job maintaining intake temps and are pretty cost-effective and durable.
  4. ...
  5. ...
  6. Turbo inlet pipe just looks cool but does absolutely nothing, I asked drob about it in the comments on one post and he said it's just for looks.

Once you have the first three, to make much more power, you need basically any of the three in various combinations to reach a given power level:
  • run an ethanol blend
  • upgrade your turbo
  • and/or upgrade your fuel system.

Ethanol blend can get the stock turbo to roughly 400-410hp, upgraded turbo (27won Kuro) on 93oct maxed out stock fuel system on a good day is 425hp, and Kuro + fuel system + ethanol is good for 460-480hp on a Kuro.

Also interesting looking back through drob's posts in that there were some catless downpipes making practically negligible extra power. Some made a little more torque but with all the downsides of being catless, it doesn't seem worth it over a good DP like the TSP one.

100% agree. Honda engineers with a lot of education spent thousands of hours on R&D so I trust them.

Intercooler, intake, down pipe and tune is it for me. Maybe a RMM if my car starts wheel hopping like it’s LeBron.

Now I’m just curious on the sound difference between OEM downpipe and TSP downpipe both on OEM exhaust

Same that's really all I'm planning on doing engine/power wise. Just need to install my IC and get it tuned in a few months when the weather is better.

This is what the TSP downpipe sounds with OEM exhaust

Are there any DPs that fit the stock heatshield?

two step performance, 27won, rv6, axion, invidia all maintain OEM heat shields.

MAPerformance does not.

Those seem to be the main brands.
