I recall reading somewhere that people had much better experiences after changing the tranny oil to Amsoil...can't remember where though.

I'd have thought that was crazy, but my Si went from a garbage gearbox to 85% as good as my old BRZs (very underrated box) after changing to new gear oil. So this may be worth trying.

The dealer would love that, though. 'We can't warranty it because you didn't use OEM fluid.'

What grade oil would you recommend?

No grinds yet and somehow I don't feel the clutch delay in the FL5 like I did in the Fk8 and Fk2. Strange.

I beat the ever living shit out of my FL5 and it doesn't grind any gear. Let is warm up before romping on it and its fine. If you are grinding gears you aren't shifting right.

I suspect the latter has been my issue.

Fingers crossed, but I haven't had any issues in a while. I think my car's transmission is just fully broken in now.

Amsoil in my Si shifted great when it was above 70 outside but in the cold was worse then OEM Honda fluid.

I've owned plenty of Hondas in the past. Let it warm up and don't limp wrist it. So far, all shifts have been crisp and solid.

I've noticed that the 2nd gear shift at lower speeds is a bit crunchy at times.
Do you guys think this is user error on my part or an issue I should take to the dealership?
I notice the same thing

What type of perfect shifting should be done? Ive driven multiple stick shift cars including the 10th gen Si and FK8 and damn the FL5 is horrible. I have done everything and 2,3,&4, just dont stop grinding every time i get into gear.

I never once grinded in any gear with my FK8 and so far the same with my FL5.

Me too. "Crunchy" is the perfect way to describe it. Not a grinding for me, more like the notch to get in second is not smooth as all of the others. I get that feeling whether im casually driving or redlining it. It's not every shift to 2nd either, some feel really smooth. Every other gear, except reverse, is like butter every time.
