I know others have said it before it may just not be the right car for you. I have come to that conclusion as well and after two weeks decided to sell it. It’s an amazing vehicle just not quite what I was looking for.

I think the hype train does things to people's imaginations for these cars where they really do think they're going to step into a 4 door Elise.

As someone who came into this car from a history of past "high end sports cars", I'll tell anyone reading this right now what this car is not- it's not a good primary choice for a "fun car". If 4 doors and a manual transmission were not hard requirements, I would not be driving this car... and as soon as the funds free up I'll be buying another Porsche/Emira/McLaren/etc.

So when I see folks come in here with a stable full of other fun cars expecting to add to the list of cars they want to tear through the mountains with, I know I'm most likely looking at a transient member of these forums.

If the expectation shifts to a "do-it-all" car that can be a kid/dog taxi and grocery getter as well as it can be a genuine sports car, now you're in this car's sweet spot. It's not the best at either.

Best way I can explain my individual situation without breaking into full dissertation-mode- I needed something like this because I just couldn't justify having both a 911 AND an S4 like I did at one point... I tried with an RS5 and it didn't work. It does with my DE5... but also I do still occasionally get in it and think things like "wouldn't it be nice if I could put the top down and hear a glorious flat 6". It is "special" for what it is, but it doesn't truly compare to the pantheon of high end sports cars- on really any level if we're getting serious. If you have any sort of expectations beyond that you will almost surely be disappointed.

Hope that helps someone in the future avoid spending all the time looking for a car with no ADM just to turn around and list it for sale in 2 weeks...

I have a 992 gt3rs and also had some of the most expensive sedans on the market and to me the fl5 is my favorite and super raw but I wouldn’t mine a little more rawness…. So far I have a tune the car is definitely not slow anymore , prl intake a must for sound and acuity shifter also a must just did the rrm but honestly I didn’t feel much … next up I’m getting a remark exhaust… btw I returned the 5 black wing after 2 days begging the dealer to take it back

this does what you're looking for

high pressure fuel pump
can flex
e85 tune
downpipe
frontpipe
intake
charge pipe
intercooler
mhi stage 2 turbo (stock-like spool good top end)

requires a bit of extra maintenance.

or some aftermarket motor mounts. that will make it feel more raw.
also a lot cheaper than a dozen different mods that throw reliability out the window.

the Wunderladen trans mount and rmm are great

Currently the mods I've done so far to achieve rawness...
PRL intake (pretty fun to hear the noise...)
PRL RMM (meh)
Hondata 91 octane tune (nicely wakes up the car but the power surge at ~4500 RPM needs to be smoother)

Other random mods
Acuity shift knob (hated the slippery stock one)
Acuity gas pedal thing that lets me move the gas pedal closer to the brakes for heel-toe'ing
Unplugged the fake engine noise

Definitely need
Exhaust and downpipe to get more sound and power. I'll be happy with solid 400WHP.
Acuity shifter - won't add to the rawness but want to match the best shifters I've ever experience (s2000 and 911 S/T).
Either lowering springs or coilovers
Maybe also get that suspension module.

Mod ordered and coming:
Apex ML10RT (plan to get nice sticky tires to go with them)

How did I miss this thread? I'm looking for more feedback through the wheel and through the seat. So far I've ordered up:

Spoon rigid collar kits (front/rear)
Whiteline anti-lift kit
Cobb rear motor mount
Acuity shifter

I'm pretty sure that this'll be a good start, and down the road I'll be considering RV6 rear arms, a rear sway bar, camber offset ball joints, a mild spring upgrade (H&R or similar) and maybe some braces/stiff plate.

Be careful with the anti lift kit, I ran the power flex one on my old 24 civic sport and they can get unbearably squeaky once the lubrication dries up. The drive feel however, is a lot better

How much does the ALK impact ride quality?

Is this some kind of spoof post?? Lol.

Let me get this straight, you are comparing a mid $40,000 compact sedan, granted, it’s the best front wheel drive platform in the world, versus $200+ thousand dollar cars? Ok. Phew. I thought you were talking something crazy.

But I will make you a deal. Give me 50 grand and I will make this FL5 faster and better handling than any Porsche you’ve ever been in… Just saying. ;)

and coming from someone who’s driven a lot of fast cars over his 60 years, this is probably one of the most fun cars I’ve ever been in and had the pleasure of owning. And I haven’t even scratched the surface on what I’m gonna do to it.

Agree with what you have done so far, well I don't have a tune so won't comment on that but IMO an intake is the best thing for this car, it makes fun noises for a cheap price (PRL). RMM I am with you imo a waste of money. People swear on this but all it has introduced to me is NVH, I don't launch the car though so maybe a difference experience for others but on track I see zero difference.
Acuity shifter I am considering as a future upgrade myself. The honda shifter is already excellent but there is definitely room for improvement, easy to install and not that expensive.

I am going to be installing H&R springs soon. Really just for looks but coilovers is the way to go always I just don't want to spend the money and the time dialing them. Hope the springs don't ruin anything since the car is excellent as is.

Another thing that maybe would not count towards rawness is the integra type S ADM (or can get the fancy DCS as well), it lets you drive the car in +R which adds some rawness, without it +R is in my opinion undrivable.

Exhaust does add another layer, more feedback and its pretty fun. Unlike some cars on this one I would not put it on the top of my list. I am glad I have it but was not as good of an upgrade as the intake.
