Anyone have experience with the Spoon street or Mugen street brake pads? Low brake dust? My MF10's are getting f'd by the OEM brake pads.
I've been on Dixcel M pads for about a month/ 1500 miles and they are great street pads. Almost zero dust. I pushed them pretty damn hard driving around West Virginia last week and they were fine. I didn't notice any performance difference between stock even though I suspect stock are better when you are pushing even harder. If they end up having decent longevity I'll probably never buy any other street pads.

Adding to this thread. Got some brake pads sent out to me by Intima which is an Australian brand. I got their SR series which is supposely a street/track pad. Not sure if anyone else has tried them out or even heard of them. They have informed me that the SR series are a 600 degree celsius pad. If you are wanting a more extreme pad, then you would choose the RR series.

Front: https://intimabrakes.com.au/product/intima-sr-in1678-sr/

Rear: https://intimabrakes.com.au/product/intima-sr-8950sr/
Thanks for this. I added these and the SS series to the chart.

Rezzing this thread for a question.

I've had Akebonos on my FL5 for about 4 months now. They produce almost no dust and feel great but they constantly squeal at any speeds/braking below 20mph. 17k miles and I didn't put on new rotors when I changed to the Akebonos. I've tried bedding them a few times with no success to lessen the squealing.

Should I just get new rotors? Try bedding again? The squealing is driving me nuts.

Haven't had a ceramic pad squeal before. Did you grease the pad ears (brake lube or high temp anti seize) and slide pins (silicone paste)?

Yep! Maybe I didn't use enough. I've seen quite a few people mention that Akebonos can be squealy/screechy so I wasn't sure if it is just a characteristic of these brakes, especially if you don't put on fresh rotors with them.

What's your bedding technique?

I did roughly this, but after watching the video I don't think I got my pads hot enough. I need to find a quiet/deserted road to go do this on over and over.

Paragon R5's vs Endless Circuit/Endurance Racing Pads ( Superior ).

I've recently tested my ENDLESS CC43 (N35S) BRAKE PAD FRONT FOR HONDA CIVIC FK8 FL5 (TYPE-R) EP357-CC43-N35S - I ordered them from BlackHawkJapan and it takes 1.5 months to produce and after doing Equivalent of 4 track days at COTA, 20 sessions at 25 min a session this brake pad is SUPERIOR to the Paragon R5's which are just rebranded Winmax brake pads.

We ran my car back to back two drivers advance and intermediate on the same day - totally beat hard on the car, and it's a day and night difference. These braked so consistently, lap over lap, and it did have less bite than the R5's but it was much more consistent, zero change in brake pedal feel, and it was way easier on the rotors and pads.

I would highly recommend ordering these and giving them a try. My mind is blown.

I did run it through some AI to kind of compare it to the Paragon R5's. Those things are way more aggressive and chewed up my stock rotors. So I got new rotors and tried the Endless and have ordered another 2 sets. Probably next time, only need to order the front pads, as the rears seem to be able to last 3-4 times longer, so every 3rd-4th switch out of the front pads, I'll switch out the rears.

Absolutely love them! And only $131.00 ( You will have to pay import tax from Japan but well worth it ) _ I called a local Endless distributor and they tried to charge me like $1000+ bucks

Streatable - no issues after you bed them properly

Both are endless cc43

paragon R5’s lasted very very long as well in rears - stock rear pads dissolve fast on one track day

I’m currently using DFC rear rotors + Akebono rear pads. As mentioned, very low brake dust compared to stock. I haven’t noticed any huge braking differences to warrant the switch back. I had 12k miles on stock rears and they were toast. Mostly street/fwy driving, w/ canyon/backroad sprints. I’m almost at 12K on the Akebonos, similar usage and they have plenty of life left. Cost for Rotors and pads were sub 175.

It’s nearly time to do the fronts, so, I’ll be trying the DFC 1 pc rotors and Akebono pads once more.

Hey all, I just did my first track day at Gingerman last Thursday and I noticed towards the end of the session that when I would brake at really high speeds I'd get a lot of pulsing. Is this just due to the heat? EBC blue stuff Pads, oem rotors, rpf 600 dot 4 fluid. It doesnt do it low speeds only high speed hard braking. I am a novice track so sorry for my ignorance. Is this normal at high temp braking or could it be I warped the front rotors?

This is normal, for the stock rotors. Even though they are 2 piece, repeated intense stops from high speeds will eventually causing pulsing due to hot spots on the rotors. They can still be driven on, but it is recommended to swap to Paragon or Girodisc rotors in the future. Paragon sells a replacement rotor ring for the stock rotor hat which saves money as opposed to buying a new complete 2-piece rotor.
