I would concur with what John shared before, rear trunk area is the easiest, followed by doors, and then floor.

I can't speak on exterior wheel wells since I haven't done those yet.


So far I have done:
-Rear trunk / rear wheel tubs inside trunk
-Doors
-Rear seat deck.

My conclusions: probably a 30-40% improvement over stock in terms of overall noise.

However, I'm still hearing a lot of tire noise, which is causing the tinnitus in my left ear to flare up every time I drive the car without an earplug in.

I'm wondering if doing the floor will be the difference maker.

My main complaint is a buzzing sensation in my left ear whenever I go over rough pavement.

I've also ordered 18 inch Advans, so we'll see if that makes a difference once I put a tire on them that isn't a PS4S

Youre experiencing the exact thing that im going thru. its the rough pavement that is getting me. I don't mind thw wind noise all that much to be honest.

Check with local honda store for tire price, then go to discount tire to price match, got me a banger deal 4xDWS06@ 245/40r18 for $890 post install

Absolutely. I have a front resonator delete (the small one), and after installing insulation only in the trunk /rear wheel wells it became almost silent in the cabin(in terms of exhaust noise/drone)

So with the dual res delete and deadening I imagine it would be perfect in the cabin
I have done exactly this and its perfect for me at the moment. I discovered this thread which helped me immensely and made me commit to the sound deadening. Best decision ever by the way.

I had the dual res delete done about 3 weeks ago and when the valve is closed it sound exactly like the stock car. Valve opened is now amazing. After the fuse trick the drone is a bit much at freeway speeds but pop the fuse back in, stick it in comfort and its back to normal.

Inspired by this thread. I used a $100 dynamat xtreme door kit on the rear wheels wells and around the sub area.
Took 2hrs total.
massive improvement!
Very Happy!
My kids could totally tell the difference too.

Everything I did was on the inside of the car.
I removed the rear seat bottom (10mm bolt and 2 little from squeeze clips) both side cover/airbags (10mm bolt on each and disconnect the airbag wires) the ”spare tire” well cover (2 Philips screws under the tie down rings [plastic cover folds from front to back]) removed privacy cover unit With the release button. There’s a little tab that uncovers/unclips front to back using a guitar pick. under there‘s (Little Philips) on each side. Then just pushed the hatch seal off a little bit.
removed the plastic hatch latch cover. Just clips. And then the wheel arch/well covers. Super easy. All the clips are all very intuitive feeling. Nothing feels forced or like it’s going to break. Everything had positive and reassuring clicks and pops.

2 hrs total: interior pieces removal, sound deadening material application and reassembly.

Currently doing this for my ‘25 sport touring hybrid hatch and noticed this peculiar object on my drivers door panel that isn’t there on the type rs! Looks like some type of simple sound control device maybe?

Did you have problem clipping the rear airbag panel back in? I couldn't get everything to clip back in. Some of the clips were barely clipped in at best. Thanks.
Did not have a problem. Takes some patience to fit everting back and snap in - check if maybe you broke any clips mine went in back easy

Floor makes a big difference and wheel wells. It solved my tinnitus issues. Now can drive 4
Hours to track drive all day, run two track days, and drive back with no issues. Don’t have to turn stereo beyond 12-13 volume and the volume increase with speed is off. It’s perfect. The car should of came like this from the factory you can enjoy the engine sounds without all the migraine road noise.

Interesting / Funny update on my end

I recently had my tinnitus flare up but I hadn't driven the R in about 2 weeks. Doc recommended getting my earwax flushed out, so I got the OTC stuff from CVS and did it myself.

After a few days my tinnitus died down a lot, and after that I drove the FL5 about an hour on LA highways (which are terribly paved fyi), and my hearing was perfectly fine.

So I'm pretty happy with just the only insulation being trunk / rear wheel wells / rear seat / doors.

Obviously it's still a very loud car inside but I just dont' want to go through the effort of pulling the carpet out.

YMMV

Some googling tells me it’s a resonator type device that helps with the sound of the door closing! Now I’m curious is the type r and sport touring hybrid doors sound different when closing!

I am still debating if I want to do the front wheel wells, maybe only if I could pull back the rear half of the liner since I have no ability to remove the wheels. Do you think it's possible to treat that area by turning the wheel all the way to one side?
I want to treat the floor as well but don't feel like pulling everything apart.
