This has been the case for years, Im not sure why this is coming as a shock. Mod your car, don't drive like a Mustang leaving Cars & Coffee and the cops wont bother you. Most of them mod cars also.

I actually don't mind exhaust law, some exhausts are way too fucking loud and sound like absolute shite. Pops and bangs bs or basically any harley bike. Call me a Karen (Kevin?)

There are dumb people out here who for some reason like to test authority, even in stock cars. I've had loud exhaust on all my cars since the 90's and only once did I get a Fix it ticket, not State Ref'd just fix it in like 2002. This was because my dumbass decided to downshift through an underpass.....sounded great though lol
My point is you have to be aware of your surroundings, there are plenty of heavily modified cars out here with loud exhaust.

I think you should have thought about that prior to purchasing the vehicle. If you live in CA, you already know how strict it is out here and the ramifications of living life "FTP." If you're aiming to have a mods list, as the day is long, for your next social gathering, have at it. On the highways and byways of CA, the car is more than capable in stock form.

Doesn't matter how much of a fool you be acting... if a law was broken, give the appropriate ticket. Can't be getting state ref'd for a 100% stock DOT approved vehicle.

California is the largest market for aftermarket parts. That why so many companies are headquartered here. SEMA too. Californians have been using CARB illegal mods for decades (me since the 90s). I remember going to a car meet where a guy displayed this sticker as a badge of honor!
As a Californian of 40+ years, I am constantly surprised when I visit states that limit alcohol sales on Sundays, evenings, and state liquor stores. Last year I visited Utah to find alcohol over 5% is only sold at state owned liquor stores, which funds school lunches.
I took a photo to show my friends in California! Here's the Google Maps location! 
My wife couldn't buy a glass of wine at the hotel bar without buying food because of state law requiring alcohol be sold with "meals". 🫣

not sure why you guys have to be dickheads about it, not everyone has the financial luxury to have been invested into this as a hobby for years and years past. i just recently met my blood and sweat quota such that I have the financial freedom to be able to do things like this, so you'll have to forgive me for not knowing. rofl
