Mind posting your dyno sheet? What state do you live in? I've watched videos on youtube where they got about 285Whp stock.
I have it on my car journal but also here. dyno number are very dyno type dependent as well. I also posted after my mods went to like 330whp.

Thank you! Good to see some stock dynos posted seriously. I just installed the stage 2 phearable which they claim to have reached 380whp / 390tq with stock everything. Tempted to dyno it honestly. I've done no other mods yet.

An Elantra N as a "track only" car? To each their own but I have to imagine that for ~$40k you could do a lot better for that use case, right? Assuming it didn't have to be new-off-the-lot... as a warranty for a dedicated track car can only take you so far, right?

An OG M2, SS 1LE or 987 comes to mind. Or any Miata. Just scratching the surface here... but I always viewed these sports sedans' greatest attributes was the duality. Buying one that won't be taking advantage of the practicality elements just... ok, nvm. It's a capable track car with a warranty so, it makes sense to someone, obviously. Not my money... but I'd like to hear the rationale behind it for sheer curiosity's sake.
In his case, he wanted brand new and reduced consumable cost (other track car is a 911 turbo).

was gonna say consumables on N will be a lot less than M2 and SS 1 LE however those will be better at the track than the N. However if you gonna gut the car and lets be honest warranty will most probably go in the toiled anyways I would go for a 1LE you can get em mid 30s now, OG M2 is holding prices decently if you want a good one.

Still don't see it. No way would I pick an Elantra N (or an FL5 for that matter...) as a DEDICATED track car. Soooo many better options...

But I also would never buy a 911 Turbo but that's a whole other discussion.

Different strokes for different folks.

I agree. I picked the FL5 because it can do track days good enough but isn't compromised as a daily for the family. If I had a track only car I would start with a much better supported platform. And def not something new.

I don’t think many people buy the FL5 for it to be solely dedicated track car. Most use it for daily/family car and get to track it a few days of the year. A nice dual purpose car.

There are much better choices than both the FL5 and EN to be a dedicated track car.

The Hyundai is just ugly. No pedigree or history with enthusiasts. 10k isn't really going to sway anyone with the means to buy a 40k+ car.

It's funny reading the YouTube comments because I was not aware that 90% of Elantra N drivers are filthy rich with incredible stables of exotic cars and simply chose the Elantra N due to it's unparalleled performance and styling.

I consider myself very fortunate to be able to have the means to afford the Type R while supporting my family. If I was more financially constrained, the Elantra N would be at the top of my list for an affordable do it all performance car. Luckily, I was able to afford exactly what I wanted, but I imagine that isn’t true for the vast majority.

Dynapack typically reads higher than other dynos.

That CTR that made 285 doesn't necessarily mean it makes less power. For sure in this same dynapack it will post 300hp too.

the average age of an Elantra N owner and CTR owner is probably very different. I see the CTR owner as being more mature, a bit older, and the EN owners being much younger, definitely 1st car vibes for many.

The Elantra N community has A LOT of young folks as well

Price point and functionality typically drive this, so not surprised. Another video, another loss for the Elantra N - what else is new? As bad as some people want the EN to be a true comp to the CTR, it's not. These threads tend to bring out the EN apologists, it's fun.

a older driver after a knock sensor went bad, which happens if you get water in it, like at the car wash or rain puddle

Every bit of enthusiasm I ever had for it has been permanently extinguished. The t-shirts went in the trash. It’s so funny to me now, when I think about the a year and a half I spent meticulously changing my own oil, doing two-bucket hand washes, parking at the far end of the supermarket lot like a boomer with a new 911. What a chump! What an absolute fucking mark! It’s a Hyundai, bro!

What do you mean $10k isnt gonna sway anyone...that's over 20% off the FL5 MSRP

In other words that could be a $150-$200 difference per month on a lease or finance, that's enough to understand why someone would choose the N
