So where do they place the Bose subwoofer in the hatchback? Does this placement improve or deteriorate the sound?

Bose Premium Sound System details:

  • One 3.25-inch (80 mm) Bose Twiddler mid/high-range speaker in the centre of the instrument panel
  • Four 1-inch (25 mm) lightweight neodymium tweeters – one in each A-pillar and one in each rear door
  • Two 6.5-inch (165 mm) wide-range speakers – one in each front door
  • Two 5.25-inch (130 mm) wide-range speakers – one in each rear door
  • Two 3.25-inch (80 mm) Bose Twiddler mid/high-range speakers – one in each C-pillar
  • One 8-inch (200 mm) woofer housed inside a custom enclosure mounted in the right rear quarter panel
  • A Bose digital amplifier with 12 channels of custom equalization and advanced digital signal processing

Everything I've read says the SI will only come as a sedan, the Type-R will be the sporty hatch.

Which is extremely disappointing. Manual, sporty hatch options are pretty small in the ~$30,000 price range. I might take a look at the GTI, despite the fact I much prefer this new civic hatch design over any of the Golfs.
Honda has never officially said if we get an Si hatch so it’s speculation either way. I won’t buy another Si sedan though, my car is already too long, and the new one is 2 inches longer. I would consider a Type R though. I’d probably be ok with a 6mT Sport Touring but would prefer an LSD so probably won’t go that route.

Could see about a mid cycle update but right now it looks like sedan only.

Rear view of hatch has weird droopy curves with very little in the way of sharp angles. They should have taken more of the sharper-angled design language from the sedan. Hatch sort of invokes the 10th gen lobster-claw-esque taillights but in a lame, completely neutered way.

Looks much less modern and premium than the sedan, closer to the bubbly look of the current Corolla Hatch, and doesn't match the front at all.

Fake exhaust tips look like crap.

Oh well, since the Si won't be a hatch I guess I am not in the market for the hatch anyway.

So does the addition of VTEC to the 1.5T do anything? I think the Accord 1.5T has it already?

The 1.5T in the Accord makes 192hp on 87 octane. :hmm:

Anyone seen images of the Smoky Mauve Pearl color on the '22 Hatchback? This image doesn't look like mauve to me.

I’m curious, too. Purple is my favorite color, and my old Civic was purple.

I'm not passing any judgement until I see it in person.
And if Honda doesn't make the hatch in a SI version, that's just silly.
My opinion.

I didn't see anything written about a sunroof. Will the hatch be available with a sunroof and a manual transmission--that's my question. If so, that could be my EP3 replacement, although I'll have to drive the Si sedan first. So far, the hatch looks better than the sedan to me, especially the grill and rear taillights.

The sport touring model should have a sun roof and available manual.
