Tire Rack was very kind to let me return the 265/40 Potenza Sport and upgrade to the RE-71 RS in 255/40.

So. Much. Better!!

The rock guards are not in these pictures, because I only installed those today. These pictures are from last week, and I forgot to post them in this thread.

Caught up with the ups and downs of this journey, thank you for taking us along for the ride! We all have car ADHD, but you taught me a lesson to just keep the one car instead of convincing yourself to trade for other cars for their various use cases (i.e. golf, GR86) :headbang:

Enjoy your ride and looking forward to see what you do with it next. The TE37 also looks amazing! Hope to join the FL5 club in the future!

Why haven’t you done it? Do it before you get your third FL5 and/or TE.

Don’t do it. The stock FL5 is mental and will be worth more if you keep it stock.

Posted this in Jester's thread, but wanted to update my build thread here as well! The car moves out, and I'm really happy and thankful!

Had my 24 FL5 jailbroken at a Hondata event this past weekend.

I've been talking a bit to Jester over PMs here, and decided I wanted him to tune my car.

Pardon me while I gush- He is an absolute TREASURE for this community! It is rare to see someone who keeps a professional career on the side and can deliver this level of customer service and client satisfaction!

He is kind, communicative, intelligent, and extremely throrough. His tunes are great for all- For a stock turbo car, he starts out with a map he has torture tested on his own car, refined, and perfected it for his customer base.

The tune is linear, and pulls like a rocket up top. There isn't knock, excessive boost, or anything dangerous- just seamless power. His boost and fueling strategies have a nice margin of safety, so you can enjoy your car for years to come. That's all already great, but his main platform is education to help you understand what is happening with your tune, no matter if you're new to the tuning game, or a seasoned veteran.

His custom tune is a total steal as priced, and I feel like I have made a friend that actually cares about me, my car, and is invested in the journey.

Jester, thank you for what you do for all of us.

For those of you on the fence, get off that fence and support a vendor who loves these cars and this platform! You'll be very happy you did.

And enter FL5 #3 for me.

I trade cars a lot, it's just a thing I do. I try really hard to be leveraged, not let it cost me too much, and never carry loans on them longer than a month or two.

At any rate, I got a really good deal on a used 24 in Championship White that had about 4500 miles on it.

It first went into service last October, and was a southern car that was kept outside. Because of this, there was a lot of contamination in the paint that the dealer didn't bother to clean up, which made it not present as well in person as it should for as new as it is. But it drove like a dream- tight as a drum, and no bad manners in the 1-2 shift at all. I fought hard for a good deal, brought it home, and it took about 3 hours of clay bar work before I could even start the mild correction it needed to prep it for ceramic coating. Everything turned out really well with the cleanup after a very long day of work, and now it will be kept in my garage all the time.

These cars are special, and I missed owning one a lot. Stock is such a sweet spot, especially with the wheel offset and scrub radius. The driving dynamics are sublime. The only thing I will do is get a Jester tune with I can figure out a semi-local jailbreak situation. because I still have my Hondata.

I'm not going to be as protective with this car as my prior. I bought this one to drive, and hope to keep it a long time! Hopefully my next car will be an addition instead of a replacement.

Thanks for reading, and happy to be back.

Ah, the never ending search for the perfect car! I know this routine all too well. I find myself looking at various other cars a lot, but eventually decide that anything that could take the place of my FL5 is either too expensive, or has deal killing compromises for daily driving.
Enjoy #3!

P.S. how is your orange shop helper doing😸?

Man, just read through all your posts and what a journey it has been!

IN to watch what happens with Numero Tres...

And maybe I missed it, but the BB one is now gone or you have both of them?
