Update: finally got around to pulling the code today and I received "P0461: Fuel Level Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance... Indicates that the Fuel Level Sensor 'A' electrical circuit was out of its operating range or had a performance problem for a predetermined period of time." Gonna take it to the dealer on Tuesday and see what they tell me about it.

P.S. I'm incredibly appreciative of all the guidance and input from you guys. I come from a lot of other forums that are definitely not as nice or constructive as you guys so thank you for helping me feel at home within the Type R community!

Final update (hopefully...). Techs stated that the code could be triggered by constantly doing small fuel fill ups and/or doing driving/cornering on heavily sloped roads. In my case, it was probably the spirited driving as well as hard cornering on freeway on-ramps and off-ramps. I "say final update hopefully" because they said if it comes back even without spirited driving then it could be a much larger issue. Hoping this is the end of it though. Thanks again for everyone's input!

You should be able to run the hell out of this thing, centrifugal force, g force, or whatever it should be just fine, maybe a sensor issue, but you doing pulls is not going to do that

No mods and you are absolutely right, that should have been the first thing I did. Just wanted to see if it was something minor that I could fix on my own before I took it in. To be honest, I'm so used to having old cars with no warranty that it slipped my mind the whole weekend but I really should be taking advantage of the 7 year bumper-to-bumper warranty I got with the car.
7 years?

The only way this holds water if your fuel level is low. There's been numerous anecdotes where the engines go limp and throw codes when driven hard and low on gas. To my knowledge this is generally sustained track conditions though; how "spirited" are you driving?

I hate to say it, but I’m not buying that explanation. Maybe I’m wrong though. Freekin modern cars are way over engineered.

still don't know where the seven years comes from, unless it's an aftermarket warranty.

Agreed. So then the fuel pump ran dry while he was going around a turn? i would think it would sputter or something and not turn off if it were only for a second.. or thats what i would expect unless he was basically running on fumes. weird.

i believe its called hondacare? its an extended honda warranty (im assuming this is what they purchased)

Correct, I purchased the extended warranty through Honda. I have the paperwork somewhere but I remember it being 7 years/100,000 miles or it may have been 120,000.

I do pulls getting on to the freeway and a bit of hard turning but nothing tire-screeching. Car wasn't even below half a tank when it originally bogged. I definitely don't think I'm throwing the car around hard enough to warrant the codes that came up. I've never even taken it on a canyon run, let alone a track. I searched the Type R forums for anyone that has gotten the code I did and only found one other person. He said the dealer reset the code for him and it never came back and I think that was a couple years ago. Dealer asked me what kind of driving I do in the car and I told them honestly so they said that my driving was probably what caused it. Otherwise, they were gonna do a "serious disassembly to start testing things".

Yeah- I mean, sensors go bad. I do not think your driving has anything to do with it.

Hopefully they don't start disassembling too much for no reason, but it's not like there isn't precedent for dealer techs to do that. At least you have a warranty.

And 7 years has got to be an extended warranty... but I don't think it matters pretty sure we're still in the window for everyone who owns an FL5 is still under warranty.

people like to hate on the extended warranties saying they're a ripoff and will deny everything . but my 150k aftermarket warranty already paid for itself.

I’ve done 3 canyon runs and never had this issue. Some of those runs are pretty extended and ran my tank pretty low.

In relation to the price of the car, getting the extended warranty wasn't that much more so I decided to get it. It's nice to hear that I probably made the right choice!
