Seems pretty barbaric to charge for grass restoration. VIR is beautifully maintained, but they will not charge you if you put ruts in the grass from an off. I am aware that they charge something like $20 per bag for oil dry, and $40 per fire extinguisher, but I'm not sure how much they charge for repairs to tire walls or guard rails.
Yes, it was quite shocking to hear. Instructor at my local track had been charged over $1k for restoration at Barber the previous year  That would suck to get that bill after an otherwise fun weekend.

Friday I find out if all of my work for the past several weeks pays off and I can buy a sim setup! Will be fun to drive hog pen for the first time!

I certainly don't want to stir up the 1% exception, but was thinking about risk this morning. That's all.
Don't drive past your skills or common sense. You're at the track to have fun not race. I can garentee you nobody cares about what time you run.

Oh 100% this is my mindset. I'm learning and getting out some stress. I don't even know what times I am running ?

you can tell yourself time doesn't matter, and you are right, but deep down everyone wants to be fast and specially faster than they were last time they were there.

I know ontrack insurance covers like $500 of track damages, and open track you can pay more and it will cover a lot more.

hagerty and lockton cover more than that, e.g. lockton covers $10k in pollutant cleanup and debris removal up to 25% of the insured value, which in a lot of cases would be between $5-10k based on current car values. I do wonder how they do with a bent guardrail, etc.

SCCA covers the cost of these issues. Many other clubs/orgs don't

I care about the time as long as I’m not $hit slow. I’m 100% fine being average.

Going home at the end of the day goal #1 always for me. Totally ok with being average but always love when I best my old PR.

that is pretty cool. I mean you have to cut but it looks OEM at least (unlike the HKS that cuts right into your bumper)

I won't do it as a stock gang member but can't wait to see where it leads in solving overheating.

Agree, someone else has to take the plunge. I already bought the triple pass radiator to see how that's going to work
