I’d bet it will do well for the fact there are only 500 made. Back in 2021, I was deciding between the last STI and FK8. Got to test drive a low mileage STI and felt it was too raw for my wife to co-drive as a family car with a baby on the way. And also didn’t know how it was going to hold up at the track. So went with the FK8.

If the ringlands don't blow on a Subaru, you weren't trying hard enough OR didn't even drive it lol.

Early FK8 used to warp the head on track. Seen it first hand.

Sure but subaru still has a rally devision and many fans. They coulda tries harder and woulda not been that hard or costly.

I like subbie, we have an outback and it has been excellent. Dealer is also way above honda, great dealer experience

Marketing sold everyone the idea that they need an SUV, where a wagon would actually be better in 95% of cases. Minivans are the best thing for a family, but cars/wagons/minivans don't have the profits that the "must have" SUVs come with.

Yeah they will sell 500 but if they brought a proper STI out and made 2000 of them they would sell em too and make more money

I’m sure it’s all about the ability to make money. We are a niche group. These are challenging times for a lot of non Chinese car makers. I’d rather Subaru be around and not have a true WRX STI than be in the financial pit like Nissan.

That’s crazy. Well I only got to track the FK8 once. Day 2 at WTGI, it went to limp mode. When I crested the esses, the engine went into limp mode. I went from 128mph to no more than 35mph and no able to rev past 5k I think. Luckily there was no cars behind me at the time because the drastic change of speed was scary.

18x9.5 ET58 for the EC-7 in Satin Black

Was wondering if you had an ETA for when production will ramp up since its currently backordered

Good news is, new wheels are coming! Bad news is, production was delayed on the Satin Black and Anthracite so ETA on those is actually closer to June.

If you need wheels quickly and you're open to alternatives though, we do have plenty of Race Silver in stock! We also have our next batch of the 18x9.5" ET53 SM-10RS arriving in February.

We [*I*] generally don't allow wheels this narrow in this thread (unless you are concerned about classing for B-Street / SCCA Autocross).

If you need satin black it looks like even the 18x11 EC-7 doesn't have enough to make a full set.

Edit: Apparently ARC-8 18x9.5 ET58 won't clear the brake caliper, so that won't work.

However, if you'll settle for Anthracite and want some wider ones (and they are on sale!):

For transparency, I’ve recommended that wheel and tire width to him and many other first timers to track days. My reason being, there’s no way of telling whether they will continue doing it and if the wheels/tires serves dual purpose, the extra tire width is just small additional cost and picks up more pebbles for no reason.

I do want to jump in real quick. The 18x9.5" ET58 ARC-8 does not clear the factory Brembos without at least a 10mm spacer, so if your goal is Street Class compliance, those won't work either.

Clearly, you should just go to 11-inch wide wheels, but if you prefer to stick with a more OEM width we do have the 18x9.5" ET43 EC-7 in stock in Satin Black and on sale!

Personally I would do +45 (or I guess 43 for apex) just because it looks better. They still sit flush and don't look ridiculous. But yes, definitely need some flaps or more stones will find their way into your paint.

The good thing about going closer to stock is if you believe and want to stay with the geometry that honda designed for the car.

Wait what??? I just checked out the ARC8 last weekend and didn't see that they even came in that size. I actually orginally wanted them.

If you put in the CTR on the website it says that the wheels won't fit so I'm actually confused now. I actually wanted the ARC 8 orginally. Im at work and on my phone so I cant easily go and play around on the website. But if these do fit I would rather just get these

Apex confirmed above that the ARC-8s don't fit in the 18x9.5 size - sorry for that! I assumed they would if the EC-7 fit.

They do fit in the 18x11 ET44 size, and Apex also recommended the 18x9.5 ET43 size (if stock class autocross isn't a consideration).

Wait thats so weird so you can have a wheel in the same dimensions as 18x9.5 ET58 which is very close to the stock offset and it still won't fit?

Im guessing theres more to it about wheel fitment?

I know the spoke design is different, so maybe it's enough to create a clearance issue? I'm sure @APEXRaceParts can confirm if the EC-7 also needs a spacer or not.

I probably should stick to what I know (18x11s) before I confuse people more.

but unless you want to do competitive autox I would pick the +43s
