other interesting rules from SCCA Time Trials/Time Attack this month:

• The TTB received a part approval request for running the DE5 Acura Integra Type S suspension module in the FL5 Honda Type R in Sport and Tuner. The TTB had decided that the module is allowed in Tuner but is not an appropriate allowance for Sport at this
• The TTB received a request regarding removing backing plates (rain guard/splash guards) from factory vents. The TTB has decided that removal of backing plates and rain guards is not appropriate in either Sport or Tuner at this

Thats super weird that they decided against the removal of backing plates, alot of OEMs say to remove the rain guard during track use

I sent the letter about the module. Kinda surprised it’s not being allowed if the shocks can be changed and it’s on a car in the same class. Oh well.

doesn't make sense to me either!

Some of the Elantra Ns are using the Kona N eLSD module in sport, they shouldn't be doing that as well if this is the case.

Seems like SCCA is trying to make Sport class closer to AutoX street class. Makes sense for more crossover. They may have to walk back the camber rules as well

I think of this more of a driver feel module, but it's one of those cases where if you are protested, you will lose as it's against the rules now.

Can they really know if you have it or not? no. does it make the car faster, that would still be driver dependent, which is basically the whole idea of the sport.

It's not like bring an intercooler to the sport class, where that has a much different effect on the car vs OEM

I'm not even sure what class I would have to put myself in if I was to time trial....I'd probably end up in the same class as a bunch of GT3's and never be competitive because of my mods.

all depends on the org.

some orgs their first line class, "enthusiast" or "street", you can open up the motor and do turbo swaps, run e85, fuel injectors, etc.

Others like SCCA have more restrictions, but also more classes. They create a pathway so you can be competitive early on and don't have to spend a bunch of $$, and if you do want to spend, they have higher classes where more mods are allowed.
