Bite the bullet & get the Wagner, send datalogs to @Jester04 so we can see if blocking 90% of the radiator is acceptable.
throw some cardboard in front of it and do some pulls ? Wagner is not on my list the initial install issues didn't look great. I would go with PWR or the upcoming RV6. But honestly, I'll probably go PRL because it's better than nothing? And I want to save my pennies for maybe some under glow LED or altezza taillights.

I just got done changing out my rear pads.

It doesn't look like they got much use at all compared to the front. Anybody have any idea whats going on?

I always heard this car is heavy on the rear brakes but my front got absolutely destroyed while the rears are fine. I only driven in +R with VSA Off + TC OFF

The New pads only had 1/2 of a track day and the olds had a full track day.

Also on the rears it looks like there some kind of corrosion on the pad, is that normal?

first he has to shake the money tree and get the new hotness before I can count my quarters to buy used PRL. Used PRL. *shudder*
This might be a problem with Chinese parts. Rv6 told me back in December they were sitting in the office just waiting for boxes and stencils. I offered to swing by and pick up two and didn't need boxes.
decided to go with PWR anyway lol

on the autocross discussion, I agree regular cone auto cross honks but its really cheap in some places but a buddy said he paid like $150 to do it in a parking lot in jersey, no thanks.

If you want a good auto cross course and are by lime rock then thats the one to go, its a mini track and you get so much freaking track time, as much as a track day and sometimes more. Its not cheap but cheaper than hpde and no need for insurance

$275 during week, $325 on weekends. Schedule not posted yet but usually there are about 4/5 dates per month. I will be there a bunch this year

Quick Release -- Easy to Release. Hard to Attach off Body. Impossible to Attach on Body. Requires you to fully assemble to helmet, prior to you putting your helmet on.

Hans Anchor -- Not impossible to put on when helmet is on.

I don't recommend buying the Quick Release
Late to the party, but I can easily get the straps on and off the normal anchors with the Hans and helmet on - I see no need for a quick release. It literally takes me about a second to get both straps off the helmet anchors in one fluid motion which I usually do while coming off the track as soon as I clear the pit lane.

Yes, it was quite shocking to hear. Instructor at my local track had been charged over $1k for restoration at Barber the previous year  That would suck to get that bill after an otherwise fun weekend.
That's specifically a feature of Barber (everyone has it to some degree, but I think Barber is extra special) - everything has a price tag there.

other interesting rules from SCCA Time Trials/Time Attack this month:

  • The TTB received a part approval request for running the DE5 Acura Integra Type S suspension module in the FL5 Honda Type R in Sport and Tuner. The TTB had decided that the module is allowed in Tuner but is not an appropriate allowance for Sport at this
Ya this is kind of screwy - allowing it in the class where you'd just change out the suspension anyway and make it irrelevant, and then not allowing in the class where it would matter. It's probably more of a concern for other people wanting allowances like this on other platforms though vs. an issue with the concept (and you can already change out the shocks in Sport as well).

  • The TTB received a request regarding removing backing plates (rain guard/splash guards) from factory vents. The TTB has decided that removal of backing plates and rain guards is not appropriate in either Sport or Tuner at this
agreed! who ever even brought it up was asking for trouble. It should be allowed under cooling, but here we are
So, hi! It's me (I think). ?

The response wasn't very well worded IMO, because this was my letter:

On the FL5 Type R (and I believe the DE5 ITS) there is a thin sheet metal rain guard / splash guard underneath the hood vent which is secured by 4 bolts. This is commonly removed by owners during track events. Would the removal of this rain guard be allowed under 2.2.2 (or another section) for either Sport and/or Tuner?

I think this is what they are clarifying, but at first I read their response as meaning the backing plates behind the brake rotors. It took me a few reads to realize that I think it was in response to my letter lol.

For anyone curious, brake backing plates are already allowed to be manipulated per the Sport rules:

7. Air ducts may be fitted to the brakes and changes may be made to option-package lights, splash shields, backing plates, dirt shields and removable trim pieces to facilitate instillation and routing but not parts like bumper-covers. The intent is that altered parts are easily put back to “stock” or not cosmetically visible. Ducts or holes may serve no other purpose. Control arm mounted brake ducting, or air scoops, may also be fitted, providing they serve no other purpose.

In tuner they clarify they can be completely removed:

5. Air ducts may be fitted to the brakes and changes may be made in the body/structure for their use. Ducts or holes may serve no other purpose. Backing plates and dirt shields may be modified or removed.

It was probably one of those things that if they saw in person, no one would bat an eye. The board seems to be a bit anti-Type R, so they automatically default to OEM or bust.

It's fine. We shall keep on keeping on.

I’ve been thinking all day about why they wouldn’t allow the Type S suspension module when it’s already in the class and you’re allowed to change the strut itself. I’m not coming up with anything so it’s probably just Anti Type R.

You can even add OEM Aero if the car is in the same class -- like the STI Wing on a WRX. Makes negative sense. The main driver -- IMO -- for every rule choice in Sport is to prevent the FL5 from absolutely walking away from the EN
