Anyone in VA want more track time let me know. Our Drivers Club at Dominion Raceway always welcomes guests and we run into Dec as long as temps hold.

Also forgive the intrusion... was bored and "my" forum owner apparently has links to a bunch of others and I was slipping around looking for track threads (which is all i really care about) :)

Vir would be a haul for me my closest track is 2 hours away at National Corvette Museum. Looking forward to some pics from VIR
I'd say it's definitely worth the drive to do it at least once if you can make it happen. Upper esses are heaven.

I was there that day with my GR86 for the freebie track day Toyota gives you when you buy a GR. I saw your car in the paddock, first time seeing FL5 in person

I'll probably be back again this June, not sure which car I'll bring though.
Nice! There were a ton of people there for the free "track day" that weekend. Kinda of a bummer for you guys how little track time you got out of it. I don't know what my schedule will be for next year but if you see the car come say Hi.

I agree. It's one of the most technical tracks in the United States. Things that you learn at VIR translate easily to other tracks.

I, on the other hand, find the upper esses terrifying.

To be fair it's been awhile since I have driven it in anything with power. In a Miata it's a blast. Probably more fun in the Civic but almost way more costly if you mess it up.

VIR sounds like a blast and plenty of videos of it to drool over. The most technical track I've run is Grattan Raceway in Michigan. Several off camber blind corners but on the shorter end. I'll keep an eye out here and see if any track days are of interest to other FL5 owners!

I used to live in Blacksburgh VA should have hit the track when I was closer! Lol

VIR is easily my fav. Only made 4 tracks days this season there (not enough)
Never gets old. You can never stop learning there.

Love it! What kind of speeds were you hitting in the upper esses?

Those GR's are nasty on track! I drove against a white one in one of my sessions!
It's riding a fine line between "momentum car" and actually kinda fast. Still, every time coming out of T8 my instructor refused to believe I was WOT lol

Right, it's a half-day pretty much. That was fine for me as a noob but I wouldn't do that again. I see the congestion issues aren't exclusive to the beginner group! It was so bad I ended up puling into the pits a few times each session to get some room to run. I'd get ~2 quick laps before catching back up to the moving parking lot. Easy on tires and oil I guess.

That's fantastic! I've never had the balls to go more than 125!

My first track day was in a S2000. Those things are gutless under 4000 RPM but my instructor wanted me in 3rd for T1. Never a good time when Miatas are pulling on you on the straight :D.

The congestion does get better as the groups overall comfort level on track goes up. Novice groups have such a wide range of skill and car capabilities that it's usually the worst. Unfortunately, track rental prices keep going up so organizers need to get as many people on track at a time as they can to spread the cost. So long as everyone checks mirrors and plays nice it's generally not too much of an issue.

My V1 setup will be as follows.

Flashpro w/Phearable tune
PRL Intercooler
Nitron R1 Coilovers (120nm/80nm Springs)
Full RV6 current catalog
Whiteline front offset camber joints
DTC60 Pads front / Motul 600 fluid / Ti Shims
18x10.5 ET47 Wheels(One offs)
285/30/18 RE71RS

I need to focus on cooling mods just to be on the safe side. Would love to hear some input there as to what I should focus on....radiator, oil cooler etc

Focus on reliability first before power. Radiator and oil cooler are an absolute must!
