I just lost a little motivation reading this lol
My reasoning was that if no air was introduced, then you could do it the old fashioned way. I certainly understand the factory PITA procedure if you've introduced air to the lines. Just my opinion.

For first trackday, all I need to do is replace brake fluid correct? Any good how to’s on that?
Yes, it is more of a safety precaution than anything else. You won't really feel any difference on your first outing since you will be learning the car.

@Club Version is right. It's a safety precaution, and definitely not one that should be ignored. A brake pedal that drops to the floor is scary for any driver regardless of skill level. I think what he means is that you don't necessarily have to get the most expensive brake fluid, but the whole idea here is to keep you and other drivers safe! If you're brand new at tracking then you likely won't be crazy fast. You can start modest with some Motul RBF600, though for the price, and the amount of fluid that you'll need for a complete flush, I'd recommend Castrol SRF.

Should come to SCCA Time Trials next weekend!
Crap! I can't next weekend! I'm going up there this weekend, then again the weekend after the SCCA time trials with NASA.

Are you running an FL5 in TT? Curious about how it does. I'm thinking about signing up for TT next month at Summit. The lap record is pretty soft in Sport 3 and it would be fun to steal it haha.

I'll be there, hopefully the weather cooperates. I'll also be doing S3. I will just have brake pads, fluid and V730s. So a bare bones operation.

Pointbypatrol has laps there, so he would be a good judge

I agree. It's one of the most technical tracks in the United States. Things that you learn at VIR translate easily to other tracks.

I, on the other hand, find the upper esses terrifying.
VIR actually isn't *that* technical, at least in Full configuration. It's basically two long straights, and some turns connecting them. Most people call it a dyno run in any car over 300 hp.

Something like WGI I think is a bit more technical. At the end of the day...going on any decent track is a fun time :D

What's the S3 lap record?

What's the S3 lap record?
at VIR, 2:08.6, but that was done in a M235i, I believe AWD, which theoretically shouldn't be allowed in S3.
a E36 M3 did a 2:10.79 which is about what S3 should be around.

I've only been 2x to VIR and in two different cars. Best I did was 2:11.4 in a Tuner 3 Golf R and a 2:11.7 in a Sport 3 Elantra N

What mods and times have you done at VIR with the FL5?

My best time so far is a 2:11.07. That was with intercooler, oil cooler, pwr radiator, Nitto NT01's, and my current brake setup (stock tune). My goal this weekend is to break into the 2:10's on a factory tune. My garmin is showing that If I can run a perfect lap, that I could possibly expect a 2:08, but conditions would have to be perfect.

The FL5 is such a capable car....That's a great time! Good luck breaking into the 2:10s!

Whelp...I didn't earn my slicks. I have a goal to hit a 2:10 before I allow myself to take that upgrade. I left a lot on the table in the Esses and South Bend. Rough weekend in general. A lot of bad luck had by all! This was simply the best I could do this go-round!

On a very positive note! Look at the top speed I was able to hit on the back straight with Jester's tune! Significant improvement over factory!
