They definitely do not work in the wet or damp and cold. I found that out the fun way at the Cam Challenge in St. Louis this year. I'm not a good enough driver to nail it on my first flyer so the A052s don't work for me in that scenario. I've ran the stones on another car, they just didn't last as long as I would have hoped. The GRM hot lapping testing this February made me drink the Kool-aid, since it seems like these will hold pace for a few laps. Plus, they seem to be holding up to wear a bit longer, that's a big plus for me since I am tire limited to one set a year by my Minister of Finance. Hopefully they last longer for me than they did you. I am getting 50-50 feedback that they're great or hot garbage between my friends that have driven on them. However the 71RS is always a safe bet.
They also didn't work in the dry + warm for me either :p.

It was honestly so bad that I was convinced something was wrong with the car, and was ready to pull the PWR intercooler off, because I was blaming it over the tires. Swapped the tires for good measure before I rage swapped by stock intercooler back on in the paddock. Ran the session, came back in, got out of the car, and shouted "F*** that Tire!*** to my friends in the paddock, because I immediately PB'd on the old and roasted A0's.

I had a third hand set last like 13 sessions, and were pretty beat when I got them. 50-50 HPDE vs TT sessions. I have no complaints thus far.

Corded before they cycled out. I set a PB on one of the last sessions on them
That's great to hear. Your brake recommendations worked great so I'm gonna follow your tire choices also.

@J1Avs yup your brake recommendation worked well at VIR. Thank you.

I assume you guys already tried Nankang CR-S? I just tried it for the first time and find it to be really good. It doesn’t seem to get greasy.

I really liked the CR-S version 2 on my RC-F, but it's also a little weak in the cold/wet, so that brought me towards the 71RS for this platform. They might be worth a try again though...

Actually just sold another set of CRS-V2 this morning to another fellow Cayman track guy here locally. He prefers it over A052 due to it being a bit more consistent. But me, personally I dont mind A052 falling off a bit and getting greasy - its still predictable to me so net-net A052 still my forever go to. I dont have very many rain days to compare both tires though so not sure there.

BTW - we can be you guys' tire vendor here too 😃

I have them on my Miata for TT but at the one event I've done with it ambient temps were so cold that they were terrible. Looking forward to next year and going after lap records in the Spring temps I'm thinking the CR-S isn't a great option.

The setup pairs well with the A052 as well -- just as always, go into it knowing it has a small window. I find that even after it gets hot it's still faster than most, but it's still not that first lap crack haha

I had a set and mistakenly swapped for the Vitour, so I still haven't given them a fair shake.

I was planning on using them for DE, since I wouldn't care so much about the lap or 2 warmup, but given I shifted back to Time Attack, I didn't want to have to think about the rears coming up to temp rapidly.

Totally agree on the A052 falloff -- it still works, just not AS well, but still better than most!
