11th Gen Honda Civic PRL Helix Air Oil Separators Now Available for FL5 & 1.5t Civic! 1770321670610-fg

Overview
Modern turbocharged engines recirculate crankcase blowby gases back into the intake tract through the factory PCV system. While effective for emissions control, these gases also carry oil vapor, fuel, and moisture that can accumulate in the intake manifold over time. These contaminants contribute to carbon buildup on intake valves, reduce effective fuel octane, and increase the likelihood of detonation. The PRL Helix Air Oil Separator is designed to remove these contaminants before they are reintroduced into the intake system, helping maintain a cleaner intake path and more consistent engine operation without venting metered air or altering factory drivability.

At the core of the new PRL AOS is a proprietary internal helix that creates controlled centrifugal motion within the canister. As blowby gases enter the system, heavier oil droplets, fuel, and moisture are forced outward toward the walls of the can, where they condense and collect at the bottom. The cleaned air is then routed back into the intake system, ensuring closed loop operation and preserving proper fueling behavior. The system is fully serviceable and must be drained at regular intervals, with service frequency depending on climate and driving conditions.

Each PRL Helix AOS is designed and produced in house using CNC machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum and finished with a durable hard anodized coating. The canister is available in both Black and Silver anodized finishes and is paired with a laser cut and CNC bent 304 stainless steel mounting bracket. Custom molded reinforced rubber hoses, billet aluminum fittings, a billet check valve, and Viton O-rings are used throughout the system to ensure long term durability, chemical resistance, and a clean OEM style installation suitable for the FK8 engine bay.

Quick Specs
• CNC machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum canister with hard anodized finish
• Available in Black or Silver anodized options

Looks great. Does this increase back pressure notably? I had a mishimoto catch-can on my accord 2.0T, and it caused enough crankcase pressure to blow oil out of the dipstick.

If not, im definitely buying one for my type r!

We have not had any issues with this on our shop cars or employee cars.

Would the moisture collected in these freeze the lines closed in sub-zero temps?

We have had a ton of single digit & negative temperature days here in PA. No issues with our daily driven 10th gen Si. The fuel, oil, & condensation mixture pretty much prevents any freezing.

Does it fit RHD vehicle? Or PRL will have one specific for RHD vehicle?

So is this anything like a normal catch can? Or is this just an improved version of the pcv?
I second this question. I think it's like a normal catch can but would be nice to get confirmation. The product seems well made and install guide is clear and through. Interested!

Yes, it is technically a catch can since the oil is not draining back into the pan, & instead being collected.

Yes, looks like it is a swirl-pot catch can. I think an AOS is a misnomer here as AOS the cleaned oil is typically recirculated back into the oil tract (most times back into the crank case) and also warmed by coolant to prevent freezing.

Edit: guess I was too slow, PRL alreay responded as such

That being said, I'm sure I'll be seeing these on my customers cars for us to sell and install, and I may even try it for our own shop FL5! Good to see new product development though for sure.
