What is the recommended cooling solution for a stock FL5? Simplest install with proven reliability is preferred.

I installed an Oil Temp Gauge in my car temporarily for a track event this weekend. Will update with how close the factory readout is compared to the gauge. My car is stock with the only variable being that I have 5-30 oil in it instead of 0-20.

How did it go? What were your oil temps?

It went really good. Sorry I never updated this thread. Here is the copy/paste of what I put in the track junkie thread-

Two things- 1- I suck at looking at gauges haha. I had plans to check the two every lap and I did not. Maybe checked 2-3 times per session. 2- the factory gauge seems very accurate but maybe a little ahead of actual temps time wise? Like as the car is heating up it reads 10-20* warmer. When it stabilizes they were practically identical. Then on a cool down lap the factory readout cools down quicker than the gauge did. I think for my purpose the OE readout is trust worthy enough that I’ll get the aftermarket gauge removed and hold off on installing the cooler for now.

Very interesting.

What was the peak (as observed)? What engine oil brand and weight are you running?

pretty cool. how would this affect the aero balance? I remember reading that Honda didn't go with a bigger vent on the hood because it added more lift than they would have liked.

Very interesting. It would be good to measure the loss in downforce or at least measure the difference in pressures at speed with a magnahelic gauge. Also, I would suggest testing with different numbers of those vents open or closed and making it the "right" amount rather than just having as many as possible. There is probably a decreasing benefit as you add more openings.

It's cool guys are pushing the boundaries and thinking outside the box.
I'm interested in seeing the real world data on this experiment.

I like the idea. I'm not sure if the graphs are very useful though. The two issues I see are the large difference in ambient temps and the fact that the car wasn't up to full operating temp at the beginning of the second test.
